ANUSARA YOGA
An inspiring, effective and modern system of hatha yoga founded
by master yogi and teacher, John Friend, in 1997. Universal Principles
of Alignment and energetic Loops provide the map for expressing
poses with integrity. Heartfelt themes encourage students to step
into the greater purpose for the practice and a broad-based Tantric
philosophy of intrinsic goodness informs our approach for teaching
and for building community.
FUNDAMENTALS
Basic and foundational postures from Anusara’s Level 1 Syllabus
are introduced. The pace is slower than a level 1 class and the
effect more gentle. The Fundamentals class is for any student new
to yoga or for the student who has not been physically active. Click
here for yoga etiquette tips and answers to frequently asked questions.
LEVEL 1
Poses from Anusara’s Level I Syllabus are introduced as are
the Universal Principles of Alignment and the 7 pairs of energetic
Loops. Moving with integrated and balanced action is the focus.
Preparation for backbending poses and handbalances are explored.
This class is suitable for the student new to Anusara Yoga or the
new yoga student who has been physically active. Click
here for yoga etiquette tips and answers to frequently asked questions.
LEVEL 2
Students are strongly encouraged to have completed a Level 1 session
or have level 2 experience in another tradition. Building upon the
foundation of the Level 1 class, refinement and building integrity
in intermediate poses is the focus. Anusara’s Level 2 syllabus
informs the class. Backbends and handbalances are practiced. Click
here for yoga etiquette tips and answers to frequently asked questions.
VINYASA 1-2
This class takes students through a series of connected poses from the level 1 and 2 syllabi
focusing on synchronizing breath and motion while staying true to Anusara’s Principles of Alignment.
The pace
for the class ranges from smooth graceful
transitions to a quicker more aerobic movement. The level is equivalent to the Level 1-2 classes. Click
here for yoga etiquette tips and answers to frequently asked questions.
NOON MIXED LEVEL PRACTICE
Energize and support your body, mind, and heart for the rest of the day.
The Noon Mixed Level Practice is for any yoga student who has prior yoga
experience. You will be led through a practice
with attention to the attitude, alignment, and action of the pose.
Pricing adjustments for the 1 hour class will be given. Click
here for yoga etiquette tips and answers to frequently asked questions.
LEVEL 2-3 PRACTICE
Poses from Anusara’s levels 1, 2 and 3 syllabi are practiced.
Students must be a regular level 2 student and be able to kick up
into handstand at the wall and press up into a backbend without
assistance. In this class the teacher practices right along side
the students giving basic instruction. The practice is physically
demanding and as rewarding. Click
here for yoga etiquette tips and answers to frequently asked questions.
RESTORATIVE YOGA
Students explore a series of poses that are more passive in nature.
Props support the body and gravity encourages the opening. A retorative
practice helps to release deep seated tensions and
is suitable for everyone! It’s great for refueling, replenishing
and relaxing. Many students start back to yoga with this class following surgery. Click
here for yoga etiquette tips and answers to frequently asked questions.
YOGA THERAPEUTICS
Experience how Anusara's Universal Principles of Alignment organize in the body to aid in the healing of injuries
and chronic imbalances. Specific issues will be addressed with a focus on exercises for strengthening,
aligning and opening in the body. This class is appropriate and designed
for the non-yogi and any level yoga student. Invide your friends and family members! Click
here for yoga etiquette tips and answers to frequently asked questions.
PRIVATE YOGA INSTRUCTION
Individualized or semi-private
instruction as an introduction to yoga, as a personal practice or
for addressing therapeutic needs. Prenatal and Postpartum instruction
to begin or continue a regular yoga practice. Click
here for yoga etiquette tips and answers to frequently asked questions.
